11-25-20: Back pain and polar bear dreams

  1. Wake up.

  2. Find that my back pain has not gotten better overnight, but is now making movement a little difficult. Advil right away. I’ve been here before, I know I just have to keep walking, gentle stretching, and applying heat, and it’ll all release in another day or so. It’s kind of a bummer though, because I usually do an online workout tonight with my trainer, Alex, and I’m pretty sure I’ll have to skip that.

  3. Coffee.

  4. I walk the dogs separately today. I’ve been experimenting a little with this when I have time. Sushi has all the energy in the world, and she seems like such a better walker when on her own. Cookie we’re still trying to figure out. She seems like she has a bad hip or knee, but then she sprints around the condo at the first glimpse of food.

  5. On the couch with a heat pack, Icy Hot and a lacrosse ball for a bit.

  6. Another bath, this time while watching yesterday’s Billy Collins on my phone.

  7. Lots of loafing and stretching, waiting for the cracks and pops that will signal a release in my spine.

  8. A dream I just remembered having last night: I parked my can in an icy parking lot and walked to the other side to participate in an improv group rehearsal. Side note: I do not do improv. During rehearsal I saw something white by my car and I walked into the dark parking lot to see what it was, and a woman from the group (it may have been Gillian Jacobs) grabbed my arm and whispered “polar bears!” And then there were four of them just trashing the cars, and we casually power walked back to the group and went inside a giant house. Where we were terrorized by a monkey. I finally caught him, and as I choked him, he squeaked “I see this isn’t your first time strangling someone.” Which made the surviving members of my improv group look at me real funny. And that’s where I woke up… Upon reflection in this moment I’m realizing this is very Golden Compass-y, which I don’t recall thinking about before bed, but here we are.

  9. Baked off some thawed turkey burgers that had been taking up too much room in the freezer. I figured a turkey meat patty is as good a snack as any, and it’s brand appropriate for the weekend.

  10. Salads with popcorn shrimp for dinner.

  11. TV, melatonin and bed.

  12. Good night, and happy Super Spreader Day tomorrow!
